Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and dedication to increasing South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) products and services throughout an engagement together with the agency's senior managers in a strategic setting up session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
Of the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% on the registered pupils during the education sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expense government is earning in the lives of weak and vulnerable small children is yielding a good impression in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe mentioned.
Reflecting on recent achievements, the Minister highlighted website key milestones and ongoing priorities. She devoted to urgently addressing the issue of long-lasting leadership appointments and also the lack of personnel at most regional places of work.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the need for community-based engagements and outreach activities.
